This project will increase quality and internationalize study programmes in Norway, Uganda and Rwanda through joint curriculum review and development of Master level courses.

The review will emphasize the implementation of transformative pedagogy. The existing courses will be reviewed, whereby instructional designers will embed blended learning and flipped classroom strategies in the new curriculum design.

Other areas of consideration include the use of game elements and game mechanics for teaching and learning in order to increase motivation and engagement for/ of the learners. Furthermore, digital assessment methods and technologies will be considered to increase the quality, flexibility and efficiency of the assessment practices.

The jointly reviewed and newly developed curriculum will be offered at the three partners institutions, whereby students could take the courses as part of their degree programmes or standalone courses.

This work package will also cover the creation of digital learning resources, digitalisation of the teaching and learning processes as well as course deployment in virtual learning environments of the three partner universities. Students and faculty will participate in the design, development, testing and evaluation of digital artifacts to be used in the courses. The created digital learning resources will include interactive media materials for the web and mobile devices for use in offline and online settings. The work will adopt participatory design and design for quality user experience with consideration to context elements both from a technical perspective and social-cultural considerations for the three involved countries: Norway, Uganda and Rwanda.

It is expected that the jointly reviewed and developed curriculum will be adopted by teachers and students in the three partners universities, hence making the study programmes truly international.

In the fifth project year, the reviewed curriculum and courses for the selected study programmes shall be presented to other Norwegian and East African institutions of higher learning using blended learning pedagogy. All the curriculum and learning resources created under this project will be co-owned by the three partner institutions according to copyrights and intellectual property laws of each country.
